Quick Pastor Tacos/Wraps for 4-6 meals for $15

Posted by Florencemom.com on Tuesday, June 6, 2017
I like to cook things that take very little time to do. I don't have the patience to make everything from scratch or the time. I love to shop at Sam's Club for bulk meat and produce and then buy little things when needed at a regular grocery store. I try to minimize my Sam's Club/Grocery store visits to just twice a week. Today I made quick pastor chicken tacos for about $15 that will feed my husband and I for dinner tonight and lunch tomorrow. I will probably have enough for tomorrow's dinner as well. Here is what I got.
  • About 3lbs of pre-marinated pastor chicken meat (very spicy) from Sam's Club = $10
  • Bag of about 20 mini-peppers from Sam's Club is about $3.50 but I only use 5 of them so it is only =  $.87
  • Bag of tortilla = $3.50
  • Head of lettuce is $1.29 but I only use half of it so it's = $.65
  • 1 lime = $.25
Total = $15.27

Since I also have a garden in my backyard, I was able to add some additional produce but it is optional:
  • Cilantro from garden = cost of water and sunshine
  • 1 bell pepper mixed with the mini-peppers above = cost of water and sunshine
Cooking Steps:
I sautéed the peppers first in olive oil and then put them to the side when they are soft and ready. I then sauteed the pre-marinated pastor chicken meat into the same pan. After all of that is done, I warm the tortilla in the oven or microwave. Add the chicken and peppers to the tortilla on a plate and put a side of lettuce. I top everything with cilantro and garnish it with a little slice of lime.
