Cooks for Christ Chicken Bog in Florence, SC

Posted by Hartsvillemom.com on Thursday, January 29, 2015
I've been following the facebook page of Cooks for Christ and they are having a Chicken Bog fundraising event today for lunch and dinner hours at the Fire Department in West Florence. This Hartsville mom and her baby decided to stop in for a lunch pick up and I was blown away at how long the line of cars was. Luckily, I already had my check written out before I even hopped into the car. The wait up was mostly due to the fact that they couldn't pack the lunches fast enough! The fundraising today is for a pastor who has stage 4 cancer. It is very sad to think about. The community came together and got in line to pitch in by purchasing a $7 chicken bog meal that comes with green beans, slaw and 2 pieces of white bread. I ordered just 2 while the car next to me ordered 20 meals.

The dinner hours tonight is from 4-7pm. The lunch event was only from 11am - 2pm. I arrived there at around 11:30am and I think the wait was about 35 minutes from the moment I got in line to the time I was able to pull out of the fire station's driveway. There were 5 police cars to help direct traffic. I was in awe and my heart is so full. The community really came together. Here is my collage from today's event.

The chicken bog was delicious and everything was well made. I really think a meal could feed 2 mouths. My baby and I munched on everything together with smiles on our faces. What made it even more enjoyable is that our meal helped a family through a time of need.

HartsvilleMom.com As a veteran's wife whose husband works in the nuclear field, moving every several years seems to be part of our life path. We have lived in Hartsville, among many other cities. Getting acclimated to a new town means starting over each time for us and to help myself and my family, I do a lot of research on things to do and have compiled everything I've experienced in Hartsville here on HartsvilleMom.com. I hope this will help you too.
